Despite a difficult economic climate Scunthorpe & District Mind is continuing to deliver a range of high quality professional services for people suffering from mental distress.
It doesn't seem to matter what size of organisation you are within the voluntary sector at the moment we are all finding it very difficult.
Our subsequent dip in income resulted in us having to take remedial action by implementing clear strategic thinking and planning early interventions to address this situation. We expect these economic challenges to continue for the next couple of years however, plans for direct service delivery presents us with new opportunities for growth, and we are continuing to build on our strong working relationships with other agencies and organisations, working with them to develop new services to meet needs.
We have always looked for opportunities to grow and develop, and even in a difficult year, we have continued to do just that - grow and develop by achieving the Quality Management in Mind, working with another local mind to expand its work force and looking to increase our own work force.
Continuous review of organisational activities will ensure that we are running the best way possible - looking for new ways to develop in this fast changing world. I must give thanks to all the staff, volunteers who help us provide an invaluable service for those that we help every day and to the board of managing Trustees.
I am confident, especially reflecting on probably one of the most challenging periods we have had in recent years, that this is a solid organisation, with special people throughout, who will guide, support and develop our vital work through the years to come with energy, enthusiasm and a passion for achieving the high standards we all strive for.
